Total time
10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpeas (cook your own dried chickpeas in advance, or use canned)
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Juice from 1 lemon (or 2-3 tbsp lemon juice)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cumin (optional, but cumin adds a depth of flavor and a little spice)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Blend all the ingredients together in a food processor until well combined. If your hummus is too dry or you want to make it smoother, add a little olive oil and/or a splash of the cooking liquid (aquafaba) from the chickpeas. Add gradually until you achieve the desired consistency.
  2. Enjoy!
  • If using dried chickpeas, soak overnight and allow up to 2 hours for cooking before using in this recipe.
